Elk Island Retreat refers to: Elk Island Retreat Ltd.
By accessing and using this website, you are consenting to, and agreeing with, these Terms of Use, which may be amended from time to time. If you do not consent or agree with these Terms of Use, you must not access or use this website. These Terms of Use may be amended from time to time without prior notice to you, so you must review these Terms of Use each time you visit the website, as your continued use of the website will constitute consent and acceptance of the amended Terms of Use.

Retreat Rules

Below is some information to make your stay at the Retreat a positive one for you and the other campers. We ask that campers respect the peace and quiet offered here. Serious violation of the listed regulations will result in the guest being required to vacate the property without refund.

General

RELEASE OF LIABILITY

Any indoor / outdoor, recreational, social or experiential activity you engage in on or off of our property is done at your own risk. You assume personal responsibility for your own safety during your stay at our facility (and for any minors travelling with you). You agree to save harmless and release our employees, suppliers and owners against all actions, proceedings, costs, claims, damages, demands, liabilities and expenses whatsoever (including legal and other fees and disbursements) sustained as a result of your staying at our facility.

BOOKING / CANCELLATION

Please see our Cancellation Policy for more details on making or cancelling your booking.

OFFICE HOURS

  • Daily 10:00AM - 12:00PM and 2:00PM - 7:00PM.

  • Fridays open until  8:00PM.  

Check-in must be completed with-in office hours.

If we have not heard from you, you may not be able to access your accommodation outside of these hours.

QUIET TIME

11:00PM to 8:00AM. Partying or offensive behavior is not allowed at anytime. Please report disturbances to the office.

VISITORS

Permission must be requested for visitors coming to your site. No visitors after 11:00 PM.

BOUNDARIES

Trespassing on other property outside the marked boundaries is not permitted. This specifically refers to the fence and farmland to the south and east of the Retreat. If you choose to walk the roadways please do not trespass on the neighbor’s property or approach / feed their farm animals. THE SWING SET AND TRAMPOLINE IN OWNERS’ YARD ARE OFF LIMITS.

EXIT

Once you are registered and settled in, please use the south campground entrance for coming and going in order to limit traffic through our yard except for office inquiries. Flush toilets and sinks are available at shower/laundry building.

FACILITIES

Showers and laundry requires loonies for operation. 1 loonie for 5 min shower time and 2 loonies for a washer or dryer load. There is an outside faucet at the building to re-fill your water containers.  Loonies, Ice, firewood, mosquito repellant, propane cylinders, candy, frozen treats, etc. available at office.

SMOKING

Please properly dispose of cigarette butts. Smoking is prohibited inside accommodations and on trail system.

ALCOHOL

Consume ONLY at your campsite or accomodation. Do not carry around the campground.

SPEED LIMIT

10 km per hour. Please be aware that small children and pets are present on the retreat. Drive accordingly!

FIREWOOD/FIRE PITS

Firewood is available for purchase at the office. Do not over fill or make excessively large fires. Do not put any garbage in fire pits.

GARBAGE

Must be disposed of in the available containers. Please ensure your bags are tied securely to minimize the odor. DO NOT PUT GARBAGE IN FIRE PITS. Please keep your site clean and tidy at all times.

DAMAGE

Please do not mark on or deface the picnic tables, buildings or any other property of Elk Island Retreat. Guests will be required to pay for damages they cause.

FLORA / FAUNA

Do not break branches or damage trees. Debarking a birch tree WILL kill it! Do not pick wild flowers. Do not use or collect deadfall, branches or trees from property for firewood. Be aware that bear, coyote, fox, moose, deer and other wild animals live in this area. Please do not feed or harass wildlife. Please dispose of all food waste in the garbage bins provided.

DRONES

Drones are not allowed to be operated on site to respect other guests privacy.

EMERGENCY

There is an on-call phone number posted on sunroom door at the office for campground related emergencies (ie. tripped breaker, loss of heat, empty propane, locked out, etc). Dial 9-1-1 for all other emergencies or injury.

RV Sites

CHECK-IN / OUT

Check-in: 3:00 PM / Check-out: 12:00 PM.

OCCUPANCY

RV sites have a maximum of 6 people permitted. 1 tent is permitted on the site along with RV, for a extra nightly fee.

WATER/SEWER

RV sewer hoses must have elbow connectors to campground sewer pipe. Water supply is city water. Make sure water connections are not leaking. PLEASE USE SPARINGLY AS ALL DRAINAGE GOES INTO A PUMP OUT SEPTIC TANK. NO WASHING OF RVs ALLOWED.

POWER

30 amp service is provided to all sites. Please monitor your amperage usage or the breaker may trip. Ensure that A/C units are free from debris. Plugged condensers will result in very high amerage draw of the fan motoran may trip the breaker.

RV SITE CARE

Keep your RV and other personal property (tents, chairs, dog fences, etc) contained within your site boundary. Keep your site clean and well maintained. For long term RV customers, large ground mats are not allowed in sites where there is grass.

PETS/DOGS

Small dogs (40 lbs or less) are ONLY allowed in the full service RV area of the campground . They must be well behaved and leashed. Please clean up after them. Do not leave pets alone and unattended at your campsite.

WIFI

WiFi is available for RV customers only (WiFi mesh does not extend to accommodations). WiFi codes are required per device and are available at the office for free.

Accommodations

CHECK-IN / OUT

Check-in: 3:00 PM / Check out: 11:00 AM. At checkout, deposit the accommodation key into the birdhouse at the office entrance.

OCCUPANCY

Each accommodation have specific maximum occupancies and age requirements listed on our website that guests need to abide by during their stay.

DAMAGE DEPOSIT

It is expected that the accommodation, site and barbeques be left in the same condition as arrival. The pre-authorized deposit will be automatically released provided there are no damages, missing items or extra cleaning fees. Your credit card will be charged the replacement cost for damaged or missing items, and forfeited if smoke is detected in the accommodations or if it is left in an excessively unclean state.

PETS

Sorry, no pets permitted in any accommodations. A $100 charge will be applied to your pre-authorized deposit if pets are discovered during or after your stay.

FIREPLACE REMOTE

MODE should be already be preset to "THERMO". Only use up or down buttons to adjust room temperature. DO NOT touch any other buttons or settings on remote or on the fireplace itself. SET TEMPERATURE TO 15O C if A/C UNIT IS IN USE.

A/C REMOTE

MODE should be set to "COOL". Use up or down buttons to adjust room temperature. Temp should not need to be set below 20O C. TURN THE A/C POWER OFF IF FIREPLACE IS IN USE
